Triplets born on the ranch

On March 21, 2021 in the Grand Valley at the Simpson Ranch, cow X 31 produced triplets! This brave mama did it all on her own, with no assistance.

What is particularly exciting about this is that out of over 35,000 calves born on the ranch in its 65 year history, a triplet birth has never happened before. According to our research, this phenomenon only happens once out of every 100,000 births.

The triplets include two bull calves at 81 pounds per calf, and a heifer at 79 pounds. The calves are happy and healthy, and the mother is very busy!

This 11 year old cow has now produced 12 calves for the Simpson Ranch over her lifetime.
